Roxbury wind farm project on hold awaiting Maine Supreme Court ruling

ROXBURY — Selectmen have learned that construction planned for this month on  a 22-turbine wind farm atop local hills likely won't happen until next year.

In fact, no on-site work has been done this year on Record Hill Wind's $120 million project because of an appeal filed with the Maine Supreme Judicial Court in April. The wind project opponents' appeal has tied up financing pending a favorable decision, Record Hill principal Robert Gardiner said Wednesday.

Friends of Maine's Mountains (FMM) is a nonprofit research and educational organization whose mission is to research, formulate and promote effective and reliable energy and power solutions that will protect Maine’s natural resources (especially Maine’s mountains), as well as Maine’s industries and private property owners – all while also ensuring that those solutions have a positive environmental and economic impact for Maine people and businesses.

FMM's Vision for Maine:

Maine will be a state that has protected its natural resources while providing effective and reliable energy and power solutions that lower those costs to less than the national average.

About Us:

FMM advances its mission using a combination of research, litigation and public outreach. FMM researches conventional and alternative power possibilities in Maine, and then promotes and advances these findings to the people of Maine, the environmental and business communities, the legislative, judicial and executive branches of Maine state government, and to the state’s media. 

FMM’s products include publications, articles, conferences, media expertise, and policy briefings.
